Day 58 (8 weeks)

I weighed in today at 2.8 lbs less than last week.  I now weigh 182.8, which means I have lost 22.4 lbs so far.  Woohoo!  Go me!  I am so proud of myself!  I know I will get down to my goal weight before my birthday in July because I am so motivated!

Tomorrow I have to see a neurologist.  I have not been myself since my car accident last May and have had horrible headaches all the time among other things.  I had an appointment with the eye doctor the other day so I could get new glasses.  It was just a routine check up but when the doctor looked into my dilated eyes he saw that something is wrong.  I have papilledema and my optic nerves are swollen.  Which, basically means the pressure inside my skull has increased for some reason.  It could be any number of things, none of which sound very good.  I am hopeful all will be well though.  I will let you know what I find out.  Not worried yet because I don't know what to worry about yet!  Wish me luck!

Here's to succeeding!

Day 44 (its been 6 weeks)

Sorry for not having posted in a while.  I have been crazy busy.  From 8am to midnight I am busy, busy, go, go, go non-stop seven days a week.  I work all but 4 days a month and have had to work a lot of extra hours on many days lately, I see the chiropractor twice a week, I attend Weight Watchers on Wednesday mornings, I workout two days a week at the health club, I do my workout dvd and cardio six days a week at home, etc, etc.

The diet has been going well.  I weighed in today at 188.6 lbs which means that I have lost 15.8 lbs in six weeks.  Not bad at all!  I have been putting all of my effort into this.  I don't cheat and I workout all the time.  I am going to get down to my goal weight.  Which, at the moment, is 140.  Just give me time.  Just give me time!

Tank tops, shorts, and bikinis here I come!   Woohoo!

Day 15

I weighed in at 198.8 today.  I had hoped to lose more than two pounds this week (since it was only my second week on the diet) but I guess that's still good.  Especially considering the trauma to my mouth and body this past week.  My body is probably just hanging on to calories and water trying to heal me up proper like.  Lol.  My mouth is still so sore from all that wonderful oral surgery.  They really cut me to shreds in there.  Oh well.

Dieting is hard work but every pound lost makes it worth it.  I am always happy when I am thinner and very unhappy with myself at all times when I am heavier so it isn't really a choice anymore.  I need to lose the weight.  I want to feel good in my clothes again!  Looking forward to the day when I fit back into my work uniforms properly.  I am able to get back into my own pants but they are tighter than tight yet.  You have no idea....but they are on so GO ME!  Yay!!!

I can't wait to get back to eating like a normal person (meaning being able to chew food again)!

I've exercised a lot lately and have been drinking a ton of water everyday.  My appetite has decreased and I feel pretty good.  I think maybe I would have lost more weight if it weren't for the fact that I overdid my work out yesterday and my legs were sooooo sore this morning.  Supposedly, when your muscles are sore they retain water in order to heal and repair the damaged tissue.  That and the mouth trauma that my body is trying to heal.  (Wow!  My legs really are sore today!)

I measure myself in a few spots on Monday nights and I lost 1-2 inches in all the right places!  Yay!

I had a chiropractor appointment today.  I feel a ton better now that I have been going but the appointments themselves are excruciating.  He does what is called the Gratson technique on my trouble spots.  It literally feels as though you are being skinned alive.  It's torture...but it does really help.  It breaks up the scar tissue in your soft tissues and forces the body to generate new, healthy tissue.  It also leaves bruising in the particularly troublesome areas due to that fact.

Anyhow, I don't feel like typing.  Have a great night!

Always keep your goal in mind!

Days 9-11

I am not reporting anything on the diet for these days because I had oral surgery and haven't really been eating (not supposed to) or exercising (not supposed to).  I feel like I have gained weight since I weighed in on Tuesday morning.  I hope I am as wrong about this as I was last week!  I guess I will find out in four days!  Wish me luck!

I watched The Biggest Loser for the first time the other day!  WOW!  That show is soooo motivational.  I am really going to start trying harder once my mouth is healed enough to allow it.

Today, I wish to talk about a few other things.  First, let me say that the other day I saw a bumper sticker I had never seen before.  It stated, "I was born ok the first time.  I don't need you."  It was over a christian fish symbol that stated, " 'N chips" inside it.  There were two kids in the back seat.  I felt bad for those two kids;  growing up with parents that not only chose not to be christians (which is one thing because everyone is entitled to make their own decisions regarding religion) but who chose to make a mockery of the religion, chose to make a fool of God and his followers.  I hope I never see a bumper sticker like that again.  (My heart felt for the parents too, who were apparently so closed to the idea of christianity).

Now let me say that Wednesday I got an email from someone within my corporation that was only addressed to four women, one being me.  This email came from a woman who personally addressed each of us with something (just a sentence or two)  that showed she knew each of us reasonably well.  (For me she spoke of my accident that I had in May and the struggles I have gone through since).  Then she recommended us to visit a link entitled something like Godsfriendshippoemforchristians.  I clicked on it and it spoke directly to my heart and soul.  It was exactly what I needed to hear to give me all the tools I need to make the changes I am hoping to make.  The miraculous thing here is that I have never heard of this woman.  When I looked her up in the company database of over 40,000 employees I found that not only does she not work in our plant/office but she doesn't even work in our business area (totally different aspects of the corporation with no common links), she doesn't even work in our region.  I asked a few people here if they knew of her and they all said they never have.  I thought maybe someone here knew her and had spoken to her about me.  This does not seem to be the case.  I am sure she must have meant to send it to a different person and accidentally got me but what an amazing thing that I needed to hear it.  God does work in mysterious ways.  Since receiving that email I have had small miracles happening.  It's awesome.

Here is to being blessed!  May the Lord bless you in all that you do too!  Now is the time to make a difference!

Days 7 and 8

I didn't get a chance to type anything yesterday so I am putting yesterday with today.  Nothing excited occurred with the diet yesterday.  No revelations, nothing.  Not much to report.  It was just another day on the diet.

Today, on the other hand was an exciting day.  I went to the 10am Weight Watchers meeting.  To my pleasant surprise, I found that I had lost 6.4 pounds in my first week.  My weight is now 198.8 pounds.  I was happy to hear it because I had been worrying Monday night that I hadn't lost anything.  I know the weight comes of a lot faster the first two weeks and then slows down so I am glad that I lost so much.  I am really motivated to lose more weight.

After the meeting, I had a chiropractor appointment.  It didn't go as well as it could have.  He had a slight problem with my neck and I ended up with a pinched nerve later.  I should have spoken up at the time but I figured it was no big deal.  Oops.  Naughty me.

I was in good spirits and had some extra time so I walked briskly for a half hour before going into work.  It felt really good to be active.  I love exercise.  Seriously, I do.  I wish I could find more time for it.  I really need to work on that.

I got another migraine this afternoon.  Once again, nothing helped it.  I am better now though and Bob and I are going to walk down to the bar so he can practice for darts.  Again, I will just drink ice water.  (Which will be good because I have only had about 40 oz of water today.  Too sick to drink).  With the medication I took to prevent vomiting I can't drink any alcohol anyway.  That should be another 20 minute walk and this way Bob gets to throw some darts too.  Kill two birds with one stone.

Get up and do something!

Days 5 and 6

Yesterday and today I had to work because it was my weekend to.  Both yesterday and today I drank over 80 oz. of water.

Yesterday, I had a Cookies N' Cream Luna Bar for breakfast.  It was pretty tasty.  Luna bars are made specially for women and are low cal, low fat, high fiber, and loaded with nutrients.  They are like really tasty, filling vitamins.  Lol.  I highly recommend Luna Bars for a great start to the day.

For lunch I had a ham and turkey sub from Subway with their fat free honey mustard sauce on it.  Pretty tasty.  Actually, I also had another 6" sub for dinner too.  I had a serving of raw carrots with fat free dill dip for an afternoon snack and a Powerbar Triple Threat Bar for a dessert after dinner.  Since I work until 9pm I am up a lot later than most people so I also had a Broccoli Cheddar Soup at Hand (I love those things) at about 8pm.

That day Bob and I went for a 20 minute walk before eating lunch.  I also did the Evap steps once at work.  (The Evap steps consist of well over 100 steps that are taller than normal steps so you tire quickly on them because its ackward and you raise your leg twice as high as you would normally.  They are more one on top of the other too so that is weird as well because it's almost like you are going straight up.  Also, the higher you go, the hotter it gets because the Evaporator is heating and heat rises).  Hard to believe that just 8 months ago I would *run* up and down those steps 5 times in a row without much difficultly.  Now just going up once is very taxing.  My legs shook afterwards!

My best friend Angel wanted to go out with Bob and I last night and this was the first time she has gotten to go out to drink at night in almost 4 years (she is a single mom of two and takes full responsibility for her children...they are always with her) so I was excited to go.  I ended up having one 16 oz bloody mary which is not good for the old diet.  Neither was the large order of potato oles with guacamole from Taco John's that I consumed after the bloody mary.  Funny how alcohol rids you of inhibition...and all sense!  Lol!  Oh well, I swear not to let that slow me down.  I am motoring on with this diet; not looking back...only looking ahead.

Today, I had a Chai Tea Luna Bar for breakfast.  NOTE THAT THOSE ARE AWESOME!  It was heaven in a nutrition bar.  Very, very scrumptious!  I highly recommend that particular flavor of Luna Bar to anyone who likes the flavor of Chai tea.  The flavor is in the coating of the bar and it tastes like icing on a cinnamon roll.  Yum!

I had two more 6" Subway subs today; one for lunch and one for dinner again.  Too good to ignore AND they are filling and loaded with servings of veggies.  I also had a Dannon Lite N' Fit strawberry yogurt (this is a great yogurt), some Rosemary and Olive Oil Triscuits, and a serving of carrots with fat free dip for snacks today.  I had a Smores Luna Bar after dinner and some Ranch Quaker Rice Quakes for a nighttime snack.  Hard to believe this is a diet with all the eating I do!  Lol!

Bob and I just got back from a 20 minute walk.  We would have walked for twice as long but it was simply too cold.  We had warm clothes, winter jackets, hats, and gloves on and were still freezing.  I also did the Evap steps once again today.  Tomorrow, I hope to be able to do them twice in a row.

I am starting to notice that I am no longer hungry all the time.  I must be getting used to the diet now.  Woohoo!  Oh, and let me reiterate, Chai Tea Luna Bars are the yummiest things!  Lol!  Ta-ta for now!

Here's to losing weight!  (Hopefully).

Congrats Pastor Tina!

Woohoo!  Way to go Tina! Big Smile I am so happy for you!  Everybody dance now! Shades

Now that I got that out of my system...Day 4 of the diet went alright.  I was very hungry today.  I wanted to eat all the time.  I had a Powerbar Triple Threat for breakfast, a meal replacement smoothie from Smoothie King for lunch, and a Smart Ones dinner.  I had 2 servings of raw carrots with fat free dill veggie dip for an afternoon snack and a yogurt and another Powerbar for nighttime snacks.  I also had some cauliflower.  See, I told you I was a pig today.

I didn't really exercise today.  Never really found the time to and now it's time to wind down for bed.  I will have to work harder at setting aside time to exercise each day.

I did drink 68 oz of water today.  I feel pretty good about that.  Yay!

I want to note that while the Chocolate Caramel Fusion Powerbar is VERY yummy, it burned my throat for some reason.  I wonder why.  I think maybe I will try it once more and if it has the same effect I won't get that flavor anymore.

I also want to note that I got the larger size smoothie from Smoothie King today and it is no more filling than the original size so from now on I know I can save myself some of the calories and just go with the smaller size.

I went back to the chiropractor today!  I hadn't been there in something like almost 2 years.  It went well.  It was a painful appointment but the end result feels good.  I go back on Tuesday next week.

One less day to diet!

A penny for your thoughts

The third day

Yesterday was my third day of my diet.  I'm starting to get into it now.  I felt a lot better all day yesterday so it was easier to eat and exercise.  I was energetic, headache-free, and a lot more motivated.  I started incorporating more water into my daily routine as well.  I drank 48 oz but plan to get up to drinking about twice that soon.  (When I was learning about proper hydration experts and physicians say that you should intake about a half an oz of water for every pound you weigh daily.  In other words, if you weigh 200 lbs optimal hydration would require somewhere around 100 oz per day).

My parents came over yesterday morning and I was excited to have them try some of the yummy healthy foods that I eat now.  I had them try Nutri-grain yogurt bars and Quaker rice Quakes.  Both are favorites of mine.  The Quaker rice Quakes are bite size rice cakes that are flavored like chips (ranch, cheddar, white cheddar, BBQ).  Very tasty!  You'd be amazed how addictive they are!

Keepin' at it!
